At Firekracker we love the idea of snowy days spent in front of a roaring fire! We think that everyone should be able to experience the warmth from a cosy fire in their own home. No matter what their lifestyle. That is why we have unique fireplaces that do not require a chimney, flue or permanent installation. In doing so, we have made it possible for everyone to enjoy using a fireplace without having to worry about smoke, ash and soot. The fires are also eco friendly, completely safe and made in Sweden.
Our bioethanol fireplaces provide heat in a modern, eco friendly way. The combustion process is completely clean and only small amounts of carbon dioxide and water vapour are produced – just like in the air we exhale.
Designing a fireplace that paraphrases a traditional wood fire presents a considerable challenge. That is to never lose sight of the genuine feelings that a fire inspires – warmth, harmony and community – during the design process.
Vauni’s design philosophy is based on the user’s emotional need for fire. A great deal of care goes into ensuring that our products are flexible and appeal to people with a variety of needs, tastes and lifestyles.
They design unique fires that communicate with the user. All materials are chosen to chime with the fire’s values and to express aesthetics, quality and warmth. As a result, the fireplaces are always beautiful, whether a fire is burning in them or not.
Most people, when they think of a beautiful crackling fire, think of a stove that uses wood as fuel – in other words, a traditional wood fire. The flue gases and excess heat produced are fed outside and into the air via a chimney or flue.
In contrast to a traditional wood-burning stove, a flueless fireplace does not burn wood, but rather pure denatured bioethanol, i.e. pure alcohol. No smoke, soot or ash is produced by bioethanol during the combustion process, unlike wood. Put simply, when burned bioethanol produces carbon dioxide (CO2) and water vapour (H2O) in similar amounts to those present in air exhaled by an adult. For that reason, no chimney, flue or additional ventilation is necessary.
The heat produced goes straight into the room that the fireplace is in. Vauni fireplaces have a maximum heat output of 2-3 kW. The heat is immediate and directed and can thus serve as a complement to existing heating systems. Most people usually find that a Vauni produces just the right amount of heat for normal comfort heating.
When you choose a bioethanol fireplace you are choosing modern comfort heating technology. The energy supplied goes straight into the room in the form of heat, instead of being lost up the chimney. This makes the fireplace highly efficient and so you only consume the energy you actually need. As the bioethanol fuel is produced from renewable sources, in net terms no CO2 is added to the atmosphere.
